Admission Procedure & Policies

The College ensures publicity and transparency in the admission process. A public notice is displayed on the official website of the Mahavidyalaya as well as on the notice board soon after the publication of the result of the H. S. Examinations of West Bengal Council of Higher Education, displaying the admission rules, eligibility criteria, intake capacity, reservation policy according to government rules, dates of submission of application forms and other relevant information about the admission process. Quite often admission-related information is made available from local newspapers and TV channels also. The College has introduced Online Admission from the academic session 2015-16 as per the rules and regulations of the Vidyasagar University. The admission is done through counselling. Admission is done strictly on the basis of merit. There is no management quota. The Admission Committee of the Mahavidyalaya plays an important role in framing out the admission criteria based on the guidelines of Vidyasagar University and recommendations of the departments of the Mahavidyalaya. The student intake capacity for each course and the norms for preparing the merit lists are displayed on the Mahavidyalaya website and notice board. The Mahavidyalaya ensures hundred percent transparency in admission process since the Mahavidyalaya strictly adheres to the rules and regulations formulated by the Government and the University for Aided Affiliated Colleges. The Mahavidyalaya also follows the guidelines regarding reservations to the backward classes unfailingly. For Hons. Students, we prepare merit list for each subject on the basis of the sum of “Best Five Subjects” marks and the marks obtained in the concerned subject by a candidate. As per the Order of the West Bengal Govt., admission from the academic session 2019-20 to the subjects is made through the online by depositing the required amount of money through online. From 2024-25 academic sessions, the admission is conducted by Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal through the Centralised Admission Portal.
