Department of CommerceBackground History:Seva Bharati Mahavidyalaya, as it stands today since 17th of July, 1964, has traversed a long way serving the Jangalmahal Community. It is about to complete its 60 years of glorious journey. From the very beginning, Commerce was taught in the Higher Secondary (10+2) level. Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) General course previously known as B.Com (Pass) under the University of Calcutta was introduced in the academic session 1969-70 with intake capacity of 50 students. Accountancy Honours in B.Com course was introduced in the academic session 1994-95. Till 1998, there were two full-time teachers. After 1998, one of the full-time teacher joined as Principal of the nearby college. A new teacher joined the college in December, 1999 and another teacher retired in November, 2012. From Dec, 2012 to 2020, there was only one full-time teacher who carried out all the departmental activities without any guest teacher or State-Aided College Teachers. Now one more full-time permanent teacher joined the college in the year 2021, the number of total teacher being two now. However, in the present situation this department experiences lack of students both in Honours and General courses. Now there is no school within the radius of 20 k.m. having commerce in H.S level. So due to the absence of feeder institutions, our department is suffering from acute student shortage. Programmes Offered
